SGIG Hon. Michael G. Thomas 33° Deputy for the Orient South Carolina

Sovereign Grand Inspector General Michael G. Thomas is a dedicated Prince Hall Freemason, community leader, jurist, and public servant whose commitment to the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth has guided both his Masonic and professional endeavors.

S.G.I.G. Thomas is a member of Howard Williams Consistory No. 414 in Orangeburg, South Carolina, which operates under the authority of the United Supreme Council, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite for the Thirty-Third and Last Degree of Freemasonry for the United States of America and Its Jurisdictions, Inc., Prince Hall Affiliated.

S.G.I.G. Thomas currently serves as Deputy of the Orient for the Palmetto Council of Deliberation, where he has been actively engaged in advancing the mission of Scottish Rite Freemasonry throughout South Carolina. Through his leadership, he has focused on strategic planning, membership development, Masonic education, and strengthening the relationships among the constituent bodies of the Rite.

His vision for the future of the Palmetto Council of Deliberation includes expanding Scottish Rite membership, enhancing Masonic education, and supporting the growth of affiliated organizations throughout the Orient of South Carolina. He has been instrumental in developing strategic initiatives designed to strengthen the fraternity's impact and ensure its continued success for future generations.

S.G.I.G. Thomas is a United States Army combat veteran and public servant who serves as the Battalion Executive Officer of the South Carolina State Guard's Provost Marshal's Command, the military police component of the South Carolina Military Department. He also serves full time as a Summary Court Judge in South Carolina, bringing decades of experience in law, public safety, and community service to the administration of justice.

S.G.I.G. Thomas has earned several undergraduate and graduate degrees and completed his legal studies at Liberty University’s School of Law. His commitment to continuing education reflects his dedication to personal growth, leadership, and service to others.
